Where to find the best beaches in Ischia
The beach of Bagnitiello is in Casamicciola Terme, in the north part of the island. Here's a crystal sea, a pebbly beach and above all natural basins of hot water which springs from the sea. Bagnitiello is a famous thermal and touristic resort, a small paradise to relax, take care of yourselves and taste traditional food in the many restaurants nearby.
Cartaromana (Ischia Ponte)
You will find Cartaromana Beach in Ischia Ponte, facing the homonym bay: you can easily get to Cartaromana by boat. Here you will walk on a sandy beach, sunbathe on black cliffs and swim in the turquoise sea while looking at the Castello Aragonese. The water is warm, thanks to the properties of natural thermalism. Ischia Ponte is in the very heart of the island, near the main town of Ischia Porto, with a lot of shops and restaurants.
Cava Grado (Sant’Angelo)
Have you ever heard about Cava Grado Beach? It’s near Sant’Angelo, a picturesque village full of fishing boats. Despite being quite small, Cava Grado is a fascinating beach in Ischia: a quiet bay, blue sea, a great view of the typical village and excellent restaurants with the freshest fish. There are also several submarines caves to explore, so this place is ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
Cava dell’Isola (Forio)
Rather than just sunbathing, there’s a beach where to play sports such as beach volley or snorkeling, listening to music and have a drink facing the sea: if you are so inclined, then Cava dell’Isola is the right place. It’s near Forio and, arriving from the sea you will spot the famous Chiesa del Soccorso; moreover, a thermal bath is just ten minutes from here. The bay has a charming view on the coast, with wild nature and delightful landscapes.
Inglesi Beach (Ischia Porto)
If you are looking for a quiet beach not too far from the town of Ischia Porto, then the Inglesi beach is right for you. Its name means beach of the English people, and despite being a narrow space, it’s still magnificent: black sand, clear water, and many caves to explore. As high cliffs surround the bay, you would prefer visiting the Inglesi beach in the morning, when the sun is high and the bay full of sunlight.
Fumaroles are the main characteristic of this beach, as you can guess. These volcanic vapors heat sand and water up: this place is ideal for body care, and you can even see some locals cooking food directly on the rocks. The Fumarole Beach is not far from Sant’Angelo, and here you will enjoy a fantastic view: colorful little houses, deep blue water, and a breathtaking natural scenario.
Maronti (Barano d’Ischia)
Maronti is one of the most enchanting beaches in Ischia, as well as vast and renowned. Here you will enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the island, with wild nature and crystal blue water, along with the lovely village of Sant’Angelo, which is quite near. Arriving at Maronti by boat is one of the best experience you will experience in Ischia. Here you will enjoy open-water swimming, relax on the beach and typical food in great restaurants.
Punta Caruso (Forio)
Wild nature surrounds many beaches of Ischia, and one of these is Punta Caruso, on the west coast. Black volcanic rocks, lush vegetation, and an incredible blue sea make this place unique on the island. This place is not far from La Mortella Gardens, and it’s perfect for a relaxing walk in nature. A cultural hint: the museum La Colombaia is also near.
San Montano (Lacco Ameno)
Not far from the great Lacco Ameno, you will discover San Montano beach, which is said to be one of the nicest on the island, as well as one of the most appreciated by both travelers and islander. Here you will find a free beach and the Negombo Thermal Gardens, which are worth a visit. Lavishing nature with flowers and trees, an impressive view of the sea and amazing hills complete this stunning scenario.
The little islet of Sorgeto is something incredible: you can plunge in a natural boiling thermal spring which comes directly from the sea. Moreover, as this beach is on the west coast of the island, you will have the chance to admire the best sunset in Ischia. And yes, as the water is so warm, you can have a bath at night too!
